The 4th Annual HARVEST Festival in Thorncliffe Park
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2015 3:00 PM–8:00 PM
R.V. BURGESS PARK, 46 THORNCLIFFE PARK DRIVE
All events are Free!
The 4th HARVEST FESTIVAL will feature unique, only-in-Toronto music, harvest-themed Story Circles, harvest foods, drumming, creative workshops and the uniquely beautiful Cultural Café created as a collaboration between TAG, ERA Architects and Diasporic Genius.
The HARVEST Festival features new events growing out of exciting new partnerships. The TAG Café has been conceived and created by a group of women who have been participating in DG programs over the last three years and have come together as the Thorncliffe Action Group to undertake this exciting project. Joining them are a group from visionary architecture firm ERA Architects (who brought the Tower Renewal project into the city-building conversation). Together they have created a pop-up structure made of the simplest materials, as an exercise in imaginative space transformation. This step and creative collaboration in space transformation as a container for imaginative food creation will connect to both themes of Harvest and neighbourhood development, themes that will resonate across the rest of the activities at the Harvest Festival: stories of indigenous, early settler and new Canadian foods; art-making workshops; and professional and community performance.
