TAG is a group of Thorncliffe residents motivated to make change and spark new life in their community
TAG emerged from the coming together of participants in Diasporic Genius programs to imagine the future of their neighbourhood and how they would like to make their visions a reality.
The centrepiece of their efforts is the TAG CAFE (formerly the Women’s Cultural Cafe) which was launched at the Diasporic Genius Harvest Festival in 2015, and which will grow to the next level in the summer of 2016 with a grant from TD and Park People, as well as an original pop-up structure designed by visionary ERA Architects.
Membership in TAG is open to all Thorncliffe residents.

Upcoming TAG events
May 2017 Pedestrian Sundays in Kensington Market at 4 Life Natural Foods
The TAG Cafe cart will make its downtown debut in May 2017 in front of 4 Life Natural Foods at 210 Augusta Avenue. Very exciting to bring the colours and flavours of Thorncliffe to Kensington!
Past TAG Events
August 27, September 3, 10, 17, 24 TAG Cafe in RV Burgess Park
The Café will be centered around what the group calls “cross-cultural” food, a collection of dishes from their cultures of origin as well as new creations that they will develop in collaboration with each other and with a professional chef.
The menu will be planned in advance and the recipes road tested among family and friends, and at previous Diasporic Genius events that precede this series, and it will continue to be adjusted and improved from customer feedback.
Visionary architecture firm, ERA Architects will join TAG to create a pop-up structure made of the simplest materials, as an exercise in imaginative space transformation.
The TAG Café will also create a space for community gathering and culture, featuring performances by local, amateur artists and groups, as well as professionals in music, dance and story. There will also be participatory programs to engage community members.
